Kay Westmaas

Studio Westmaas is an interior architecture and decoration company based in Richmond, London and has recently been named one of the 20 up-and-coming interior designers to watch by House & Garden. Founded in 2016 by Kay Westmaas, the studio is dedicated to reimagining existing residential spaces, creating modern day sanctuaries that offer respite from the demands of modern living.

Kay creates timeless, intriguing interiors that outlive fleeting trends. From full-scale spatial refurbishments to bespoke joinery design, the studio has the ability to breathe new life into any space. The studios style draws on a palette inspired by Kay’s time spent in Barbados and England alongside a mix of tactile fabrics and natural materials. Each Studio Westmaas project is characterised by an understated luxury and practicality that effortlessly contributes to the quality of life.

The clients’ practical and emotional requirements guide the creative process, as does a commitment to sustainable design and quality craftsmanship. With the client at the forefront of each project, Kay and her team are meticulous in selecting local suppliers and artisans to source contemporary pieces, artworks, one-of-a-kind antiques and custom-made furniture to make each space authentic to the client.

The studio undertakes projects in the UK and abroad. The team is currently working on three whole-house renovations in Richmond, a Grade II listed house in Twickenham, a whole-house renovation in Chiswick and two apartment renovations in Islington.
